Partnership will promote the Amnis ImageStreamX Imaging Flow Cytometer in the Middle East and African markets

Imaging specialists Amnis and The Alliance Global Group (AGBL) are pleased to announce the completion of a master distribution agreement under which Alliance Global will introduce Amnis’s revolutionary ImageStreamX Cell Analysis System to more than 50 markets across the MEA region.

The Amnis ImageStream Imaging flow cytometer for basic and clinical research combines the strengths of flow cytometry and fluorescent microscopy in a single platform. The ImageStream produces up to 12 high resolution images of each cell directly in flow, at rates exceeding 1,000 cells per second and with the fluorescence sensitivity of the best conventional flow cytometers. These breakthrough capabilities allow quantification of cellular morphology and the intensity and location of fluorescent probes on, in or between cells, even in rare sub-populations and highly heterogeneous samples.

Dr. Laura Ingram, Life Sciences Product Manager at AGBL remarked “AGBL are extremely excited to bring this revolutionary technology to its customers across the region, this is an important addition to AGBL’s growing imaging platform”. She continued, “By combining the speed and quantitative immunophenotyping capabilities of a flow cytometer with the detailed cellular imagery and morphology information that comes with a fluorescence microscope, researchers are now able to access information from the cell that was never before possible. The introduction of this cutting edge technology will undoubtedly advance applications in drug discovery, molecular and cellular research and diagnostics in our regions.”

With the ImageStream Flow Cytometer researchers can;

  • Image cell directly in suspension with the resolution of a 60x microscope and the fluorescence sensitivity of the best flow cytometers
  • Analyze highly heterogeneous samples and rare cell sub-populations at speeds exceeding 1,000 cells per second
  • Perform phenotypic and functional studies at the same time using up to five lasers and 12 images per cells
  • Quantitate any image using the IDEAS software packages numerous pre-defined fluorescence and morphologic parameters

The image stream produces imagery comparable to the best fluorescence microscopes and operates at 60x, 40x or 20x magnification, so researchers can study the fine details of objects as small as bacteria and as large as epithelial cells. The ImageStream utilizes the same dyes and markers employed in microscopy and flow cytometry and can perform virtually any standard flow cytometry assay with the added value of visual confirmation. In addition, the AutoSampler greatly enhances productivity by enabling unattended sample loading from a wide variety of 96 well plates.
