AGBL Group is pleased to announce that Dr. Laura Ingram (Senior Application Scientist) presented a special guest lecture on Monday 1st of April 2013 at the Genetics Department, College of Medicine & Health Sciences, Muscat – Sultanate of Oman.

The talk focused on Illumina’s MiSeq Instrument, the latest Next Generation Sequencing platform and explained the sequencing workflow, the various sample preparation techniques and the range of applications that are enabled on the MiSeq. The presentation described MiSeqs revolutionary features including its interactive design that supports a “load and go” workflow, on-board data analysis for base calling, quality values, and variant reporting, and the robustness and accuracy of Illumina SBS sequencing technology.

Dr. Laura Ingram joined Alliance Global as Applications Scientist in November 2010 where she provides training and product support for the company’s life sciences range. She gained an honours degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from University of Glasgow in 2001 and a DPhil in Cancer Biology from University of Oxford in 2008 where her research focused on the molecular mechanisms that give rise to the abnormal proliferation characteristic of tumor cells. Previous posts include Business Manager at Roslin Cellab, a human stem cell facility based in Edinburgh and Research Scientist at Cyclacel, Dundee.

She has made numerous national and international presentations and was a speaker at the Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine Europe Conference in Edinburgh in 2009, organized by Select Biosciences. In her role at Alliance Global, she has presented at the 1st IBRO Middle East Neuroscience Conference in Al‑Ain in February 2011, The First International Symposium “Updates on Genetics & Inherited Diseases” in Medina in April 2012 and the 2nd Biotech World Congress in Dubai in February 2013.
