STEMCELL Technologies is a biotechnology company that develops speciality cell culture media, cell separation products and ancillary reagents for life science research. Driven by science and a passion for quality, STEMCELL delivers over 1000 products to researchers worldwide.

STEMCELL grew out of the Media Preparation Service of the Terry Fox Laboratory for Hematology/Oncology Research at the British Columbia Cancer Agency. The Media Preparation Service was originally created in 1981 to provide high quality, cost-effective tissue culture media for cancer researchers. In 1993, to allow it to grow, the Media Preparation Service was spun off as a private company, STEMCELL Technologies Inc.

Since that time, STEMCELL has been dedicated to providing standardized reagents and tools for all areas of stem cell research, and has extended this expertise to many other sectors of life sciences. The importance of quality control processes and raw material selection is critical to the production and optimal performance of STEMCELL’s entire portfolio of products, ensuring that batch-to-batch variability is minimized. STEM VISION:

STEMvision™ is an instrument designed specifically for imaging and counting colonies in the hematopoietic colony-forming unit (CFU) assay using MethoCult media and meniscus-free SmartDish™ cultureware. STEMvision™ replaces the need to manually count colonies using a microscope.

For human cultures, three STEMvision™ Analysis Packages have been designed for scoring and counting hematopoietic colonies produced by erythroid, myeloid and multi-potential progenitor cells (CFU-E, BFU-E, CFU-G/M/GM and CFU-GEMM) in 14-day CFU assays of cord blood, bone marrow and mobilized peripheral blood cells cultured in MethoCult™ Optimum. A fourth Analysis Package is also available for counting the total number of colonies (without classification of CFU subtypes) in 7-day CFU assays of cord blood cells cultured in MethoCult™ Express.

For mouse bone marrow cultures, three new STEMvision™ Analysis Packages have been designed to count total numbers of hematopoietic colonies produced by all combined myeloid and erythroid progenitors (BFU-E, CFU-G/M/GM) in MethoCult™ GF M3434, myeloid progenitors (CFU-G/M/GM) only in MethoCult™ GF M3534 and erythroid progenitors (BFU-E) only in MethoCult™ SF M3436.

ROBOSEP

RoboSep™ is the next-generation RoboSep™ instrument for fully-automated cell separation. Using EasySep™ technology, RoboSep™ performs all steps necessary to magnetically label and separate virtually any cell type by positive or negative selection. RoboSep™ is designed to minimize sample handling, eliminate cross-contamination, and reduce “hands-on” time.
